Please join us for a full or half day of training as your schedule allows. The schedule for the day is as follows:

  • 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM - Welcome & Registration
  • 9:00 AM - ~12:30 PM - Overview of Ottobock Upper Limb Prosthetic Solutions
  • ~12:30 PM - 1:00 PM - Lunch Break
  • 1:00 PM - ~5:00 PM - Advanced DynamicArm Training

A.M. Course (9:00 AM - ~12:30 PM)


Overview of Ottobock Upper Limb Prosthetic Solutions

This course is designed for both new and experienced practitioners to gain familiarity with Ottobock upper limb prosthetic solutions. The course will offer an overview of both body-powered and externally powered Ottobock components for transradial and transhumeral level amputations.


Target Audience:

Prosthetists, prosthetic assistants and technicians


Pre-Requisite Training:


Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe component options for both TR and TH level amputations
  • Identify the critical component selections for both body-powered and externally powered prostheses


Agenda:

  • Introduction (15 min)
  • Upper Limb Prosthetic Solutions for the TR patient (1 hour)
  • Upper Limb Prosthetic Solutions for the TH patient (1 hour)
  • Component selection for Body Powered Devices (30 min)
  • Component selection for Myoelectric devices (1 hour)
  • Q&A Discussion (15 min)


Credits:

  • 4 (s) ABC CEUs
  • CPs, CPAs, and CTPs will receive Category I ABC CEUs. All other certifications will receive Category II CEUs.

P.M. Course (1:00 - ~5:00 PM)


Advanced DynamicArm Training

This course is intended for practitioners currently fitting upper limb myoelectrics and want to build on their experience by fitting a patient at a transhumeral or shoulder disarticulation level with a myoelectric elbow. An in depth study and understanding of the DynamicArm electric elbow system including patient evaluation, myotesting, socket design, alignment and finally adjustment will be included in this course.


Target Audience:

Prosthetists, prosthetic assistants and technicians


Pre-Requisite Training:


Learning Objectives:

The practitioner will learn how to:

  • Evaluate a patient for myosites for levels appropriate for electric elbow systems
  • Perform check socket fitting of transhumeral patients
  • Assemble and establish proper alignment of electric elbow system
  • Perform computer adjustments to DynamicArm to ensure proper functioning


Agenda:

  • Introduction (30 min)
  • DynamicArm Design and Function (1 hour)
  • DynamicArm Ordering and Assembly (30 min)
  • DynamicArm Programming with Elbow Soft (1 hour)
  • Control options and Introduction of DynamicArm TMR (45 min)
  • Quiz and Q&A Discussion (15 min)


Credits:

  • 4.25 (s) ABC CEUs
  • CPs, CPAs, and CTPs will receive Category I ABC CEUs. All other certifications will receive Category II CEUs.

Presenter:

Annie Hess, CP

Annie Hess, CP has had a passion for upper limb prosthetics since her first class in O&P school, and has pursued additional experience and knowledge in this area since. She attended the prosthetics and orthotics program at the University of Washington, and has worked with and for several upper limb specialists. Annie is the secretary of the AAOP’s Upper Limb Prosthetic society and the first woman to serve as an officer. She authored the chapter on body-powered UL components for the 4th edition of the Atlas of Amputations and Limb Deficiencies. She lives in San Jose and is enjoying her new field based position travelling all over the country!
